Mission StatementThe Women’s and Gender Studies degree program enables UNO students to specialize in this growing academic field, and to develop ongoing partnerships between the university and its urban community. A degree in Women's and Gender Studies will prepare students for a variety of careers in education, counseling, social services, health, research, and other organizations, and it will enhance their ability to take their places as productive members of a rapidly changing global community. As women gain political, economic, and social influence internationally, there is an increasing need for systematic knowledge of women's history and contributions, as well as an analysis of continuing inequities and challenges. The program offers a Major and a Minor and fulfills elective requirements in the humanities and the social sciences. |
